About Us
We believe every family deserves to feel safe at home—starting with the air they breathe.
NaturalGasSafety.org was created to raise awareness about an often-overlooked danger: natural gas leaks. Most homeowners don’t realize that smoke and carbon monoxide detectors do not detect natural gas—and that without a dedicated alarm, a silent leak can lead to devastating consequences.
Our Mission
To help homeowners understand the risks of natural gas, stay informed about safety recommendations, and take proactive steps to protect their homes and loved ones.
Why This Matters Now
In 2025, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued an urgent recommendation:
States should require natural gas alarms in residential buildings.
This followed a growing number of serious incidents—many of them fatal—that could have been prevented with an inexpensive, widely available device.
Each year, hundreds of natural gas-related incidents are reported to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). The risks are real, and preventable.
